Finding a Solution
After the weekend, we all came back thinking of numerous problems and good solutions. One of the problems we honed in on was the fact that people with allergies have no reference source for where to eat. Let’s say that you are deathly allergic to peanuts, and for dinner you want to go out to eat. You look on Yelp, but there are no places you can find that make foods that are specific to your allergy. We want to create an app, like Yelp, that people with allergies can look on to find restaurants with foods that they can eat. They can look up restaurants close to them, we will rate them based on how conscientious of allergies they are. We found out that one of our science teachers is allergic to many foods, and we asked him what the biggest food allergies are caused by. He said that seafood, strawberries, and peanuts are the big three of causing allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. This past week, we found an app that can make apps and got it approved by the school. Now, we are working on a survey to send out to our whole grade to find out who has food allergies and who doesn’t. We will hand out strips of paper to the people who do have allergies for the next time they go to a restaurant, they can ask if they have allergy specific items on their menu. Thanks for reading and we’ll get back to you next week.
